Jean Monnet International School “Effective Eco-Management for the European Future of Ukraine” (19.03.2025, online)

On 19-21 March, 2025, the Jean Monnet International School “Effective Eco-Management for the European Future of Ukraine” was held online. The event was organised by the National University of Food Technologies on the basis of the Department of Ecology and Eco-Management within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ programme projects “EU Renewable Energy Strategy as a Guide for Ukraine” and “Effective Waste Management in the EU – the Best Choice for Ukraine”.

Serhiy TOKARCHUK, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the NUFT, Petro KRAINIK, Project Manager of the Jean Monnet Actions of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, and Nataliya HREGIRCHAK, Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Environmental Control of the University, addressed the School’s participants with introductory remarks.

In his speech, Petro KRAINIK focused the audience’s attention on the priorities of the EU Erasmus+ Programme, in particular on the priority “Environment and the fight against climate change”, the European growth strategy, which recognizes the key role of educational institutions and universities in engaging with students, parents and the wider community regarding the changes necessary for a successful transition to climate neutrality by 2050, on other strategic documents, on the values ​​​​that Jean Monnet projects spread, on the opportunities of projects to reach different target groups of the academic and non-academic community.

Head of the Department of Ecology and Eco-Management, coordinator of the Jean Monnet projects ProEU and EcoEurope, Professor Ihor YAKYMENKO outlined the European integration strategy of the department and the prospects for training qualified ecologists.

60 participants joined the School’s work – college students, high school students, science teachers, lecturers from higher education institutions and everyone interested in the European future of Ukraine and its sustainable development, from different cities of Ukraine.
